Mrs. Root loves singing with kids! With a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Drake University and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, she has enjoyed working with kids from high school to preschool and is excited to be at Coulee this year to teach music to our elementary students! In her spare time, Mrs. Root can be found walking her dogs, scrapbooking, or reading. Her favorite verse is Romans 15:13.

Mrs. Jody Anderson
Mrs. Anderson’s time at Coulee Christian School began in the lunchroom and working with younger children when her daughter was first enrolled. She is thrilled to be part of the 3K/4K program. Her favorite Scripture passage is Psalm 23.

Mrs. Trudy Lester
Mrs. Lester graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Education. In addition to her teaching license, she has an Associate’s Degree in Theological Studies. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, horseback riding, reading, camping, and boating. Mrs. Lester’s favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

Mrs. Penny Rediske
Mrs. Rediske earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northland Baptist Bible College. She has taught on the mission field for a brief period of time, home schooled, and taught in three different Christian schools. For the past thirteen years, Mrs. Rediske has served as the Executive Director for the Agape Pregnancy Resource Center in La Crosse, WI.
Mrs. Rediske and her husband have 3 children and 2 small dogs. Her favorite Bible Verse is Galatians 2:20.

Mrs. Sherri Lewison
Mrs. Lewison graduated cum laude from Maranatha Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Mrs. Lewison enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, reading books about the Amish, and playing the clarinet. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Mrs. Tina Janzen
Mrs. Janzen comes to Coulee Christian School with 13 years of public school teaching experience and 9 years of homeschooling experience. Mrs. Janzen holds a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Reading Teacher licensure from Viterbo University. She holds her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Studies from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. When not at school, you can find her outside working with her family, traveling, camping, reading, and watching football. One of Mrs. Janzen’s favorite bible passages is Proverbs 3: 1-5.
My son, never forget the things I have taught you. If you want a long and satisfying life, closely follow my instructions. Never forget to be truthful and kind. Hold these virtues tightly. Mrs. Christen Helgerson
Mrs. Helgerson graduated from UW-La Crosse with a degree in English. Mrs. Helgerson is a former Youth Director and Trainer for Tentmakers (an organization that provides Christ-centered leadership training for churches, pastors, youth leaders, and young people). She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Helgerson’s favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 3:17b-19.

Mrs. Christie Hintz
Mrs. Hintz has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. She is currently finishing her ministry certificate from Global University. Mrs. Hintz and her husband, Kevin, have 5 children, who she home schooled for 8 years before they started at Coulee. She previously worked at the Todd Wehr Library at Viterbo University. Mrs. Hintz enjoys gardening, flowers, and coffee. Mrs. Hintz’s favorite Bible verse for this year is Micah 6:8.

Mr. Mike Mesmer
Social Studies Specialty
Mr. Mesmer is originally from Kansas. In 1993, he joined the US Army and retired in 2015. He has Associates Degree from American Military University. Mr. Mesmer was a Master Fitness Instructor for the U.S. Army and Personal Trainer for Bally Total Fitness. Mr. Mesmer has been married for 15 years and has 2 children. Currently, he is working on his Bachelors Degree in U.S. History. When he is not at school, Mr. Mesmer enjoys running, hunting, and writing.
Mrs. Sabrina Cuéllar – Ross
Spanish (gr. 6-12)
High School Bible
Senior Class Advisor – Class of 2018
Mrs. Cuéllar – Ross is a graduate from Viterbo University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in French. She has additional credentials in Accelerated Linguistic Training (in El Salvador) with a major emphasis on the English language. Outside of Coulee Christian School, she likes to spend time with her family, read, study the Bible, and exercise. When asked to share information about herself, she wrote, “I truly LOVE serving the Lord in this capacity. I am very blessed each day as I have the privilege to work with the students and see their potentials, seeing how God has gifted them individually with their talents and personalities. It is a joy to work with the little ones, all the way up to the high schoolers. God has also blessed me with wonderful coworkers. I don’t consider this a job but rather see it as an opportunity to serve the Lord and invest my time toward the Heavenly Kingdom.” Mrs. Cuéllar – Ross’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:6.

Mrs. Roxanne Munns
High School Math
Mrs. Munns is a graduate of UW-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering; she has also obtained her teaching license through the state of Wisconsin. In addition to teaching at Coulee Christian School, Mrs. Munns is a Precept Bible Study Leader, has been a short-term missionary English teacher in Japan, served as a Trigonometry tutor, and is also a mother of two children. She enjoys crocheting, genealogy, Bible studies, and being involved in missions. Her favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 6:13.

Mr. Tony Nehring
High School Social Studies
Mr. Nehring graduated from the UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadfield Social Studies. In addition to teaching, Mr. Nehring has served as a coach for some of our athletic teams and is a high school class advisor. Mr. Nehring enjoys the outdoors and sports. His favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 17:18.

Mr. Brian Roraff

Mr. Roraff graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with majors in Secondary Education and Biology, as well as minors in Chemistry and Vocal Music. He has more than twenty-five years of teaching experience. In addition to his responsibilities at Coulee Christian School, Mr. Roraff likes to spend time with his family, values his alone time with God, and enjoys sports. His favorite Bible verse is Song of Songs 6:3.

Ms. Tarisa Smith
High School Bible & English
Sophamore Class Adviser – Class of 2020
Ms.Smith, the child of MAF missionaries, spent her high school years at the Ubangi Academy (UBAC for short) in Karawa, Zaire, AFRICA. She is the second of four children. She comes to Coulee by way of Hartley, Iowa where she served for 6 years as the Children and Teen Librarian in the Hartley Public Library (the Noisiest Library in the state of Iowa).
Tarisa earned her Associate in Arts degree from Oak Hills Bible College in 1997. Then followed with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St. Catherine in 2004. While at St. Kate’s, she served for 3 years on Residence Life Staff and the Activities Team. Tarisa was inducted into the English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta, the Writing Honors Society, Delta Phi Lambda and received St. Kate’s Thomas More Award for Student Leadership.
A bibliophile, Ms. Smith brings with her a passion for all things reading and writing and art. She hopes to inspire a similar love in her students, while creating a safe space to disagree and dialogue. She believes that the Language Arts can be used as a tool to make sense of our broken world and to understand the many different points of view, making us more compassionate citizens of the kingdom of God. Ms. Smith’s favorite Bible verse is Micah 6:8.
